The Bride: Abigail C.
Born and raised a Connecticut Yankee, I came south to study creative writing. I've always loved superheroes, horseback riding, reading, writing, dancing and I recently added defense pistol shooting to the list. During the day I work for a non profit law firm and I moonlight as a writer. I have a finished fantasy novel, and two other novels in progress (one fantasy, one political thriller). I'm delighted to be embarking on this new adventure with a real hero of my own.
The Groom: Nicholas R.
A northern transplant to VA, I'm a traveler, observer, fencer, learner, shutterbug, schemer and scientist. I'm a dreamer, until I remember that reality can be better than your wildest dreams (mine is anyway). I'm a lover, not a fighter-but I'll fight for those I love. I am busily working towards my MA in international affairs and enjoying life with the Queen of my heart.
- - OUR STORY - -
Nicholas and Abigail met in college in a geometry class during sophomore year in the spring of 2006. They soon found themselves in the same circle of friends, participating in fencing club, planning Friday movie nights, hikes, theme park trips, spontaneous expeditions for ice cream, and sundry other adventures.
Being amoung the members of the group most prone to plotting various outings and events, they quickly became good friends, however it was not until over a year after graduation that they began to develop a closer friendship. After a summer of "gosh, I'm starting to think perhaps s/he likes me... I think I rather like him/her, but maybe I'm just seeing things... but... but... oh wow. I _really_ like him/her! I wonder..." prolonged by busy season at work for Abigail, and Nicholas starting grad school, the die was cast. As he told one of his groomsmen-to-be shortly afterwards, "I decided to find the biggest, most daunting cliff I could find, and throw myself off it--no nets, no parachute--just to see what happened.
and I think I ran into an Angel on the way down."
Just short of seven months later, on an April evening under the stars, Nicholas asked Abigail if she would spend the rest of her life with him--but for that story you will have to look here or here.
